The tale of Black faith is interwoven into the tapestry of God’s people.

The God who bled for you, who died for you, who rose from the dead for you, and who now lives in you through the Holy Spirit, believes in you.

Constantly thinking about what God doesn’t seem to be doing — and about my desire for my version of justice to come about — can become a focus, which, over time, can become an obsession and, if left unattended, can become a stronghold for the enemy of my soul.

When in trouble, we do not run to one who has never known sorrow. Instead, we seek out the one who has known failure and heartache and has gotten to his feet and is still on the job. This is the one who will understand and can counsel us.

The church is being called to lead in mourning, in lament, in solidarity and in a renewed commitment to racial justice.

Because a local church is a gathering of believers, the Enemy is against her. Thus, the spiritual battles surrounding a local church and her leaders are fierce.

You might well find that the “thing” you were waiting for, as the fulfillment of all that longing, is very different than you thought it was.

These boards do not micromanage the day-to-day operation of the church but instead focus on ministry ends, not ministry means. The senior pastor’s role is to lead the board and be accountable to it.
