Corn Maze
Work with a local farmer to gain access to a world-class corn maze. Encourage your junior high and high school youth groups to invite friends to a fun, scary and supervised night out.

Pumpkin Carving
Organize a pumpkin-carving contest, including a pumpkin cook-off, a carving demonstration and a pumpkin bake sale.

Family Square Dance
Host an old-fashioned family square dance in a barn or a church area decorated with hay bales. If possible, end with a bonfire and s’mores.

Pumpkin Patch
Transform a large space on your church’s grounds into a pumpkin patch where families can visit, take photos and leave with a free pumpkin. Work with local farmers to purchase pumpkins.

Gene Appel: Do Less Ministry; Reach More People

None of the programs at our church were bad in and of themselves. The volume of it just prevented us from being focused on building relationships with those who are far from God. So, we had to do less ministry to reach more people. It sounds funny, but people had to be trained in how to do life with nonbelievers or people spiritually disinterested.
