Idea Starter: Use the Right Form of Advertising to Reach Your Community

When you begin thinking about advertising your new church, consider the culture of your community and your target audience. If your church is in an urban area with lots of young people, consider bypassing the church directory of the Christian newspaper or your local Christian radio station. Instead, consider securing a time to go on air at your local secular hip-hop radio station, and talk about your new church to that listening audience. Or place an ad in a smaller social newspaper that promotes nightclubs. That way, you’ll reach the city’s unchurched young people or those who have left the church. You’ll remind them that the church will meet them wherever they are.
