Try This!: Winter Christian Outreach Ideas, Open Dinner Invitations at Easter and more

Valentine’s Day Parents Night Out

Let your family ministry and children’s ministry combine efforts for an incredible Valentine’s Day event for everyone. Plan a fun evening for kids of all ages on Saturday, Feb. 14. Feed them dinner, play games, share a message of how much God loves them, and engage in meaningful conversations. You can also offer snacks and show a short film to reinforce your theme.

While the kids are enjoying their event, their parents have a night out. Consider contacting local restaurants for coupons or gift cards that you can give away to meet a variety of budgets.

Easy-to-Plan Indoor Gatherings

Stuck inside while it’s cold and snowy outside? Let indoor hobbies and events drive meaningful connections for those in your church and community this winter.

Board Game Group

Beyond Monopoly and Scrabble, break out the creative board games of mystery, trains and medieval farms. This is a fantastic way to engage multiple generations in one event.

Coloring Connection

Gather coloring books for adults, colored pencils and markers for a therapeutic art experience for grown-ups. Provide light refreshments and play soft instrumental music in the background.

Coffee Shop Hop

Choose set times, say Monday evenings or Thursday mornings, for small groups of people to meet for coffee. Support local businesses as staff members and lay leaders post their locations throughout the week, and let the casual conversation flow.

Ladies’ Craft Night

Whether it be needlework or scrapbooking, invite ladies to work on their projects together. Provide the space and snacks, and they will build relationships as they enjoy crafting.

Pickleball

If your church has access to an indoor gym, plan a pickleball tournament. Keep it simple with open-court pickleball times, or make it grand with an introductory class and a full tournament with prizes.

Movies

Pop some popcorn and show a classic movie or a newer masterpiece. Preview the film and jot down engaging questions for attendees to discuss at intermission or after the movie. Outreach, Inc., the parent company of Outreach magazine, offers movie license packages for select movies.
