Surf Camp Outreach: Catch the Wave

Church youth groups and individual students catch waves and faith in Christ at annual surf camps in Southern California through the ministry Walking on Water.

Bryan Jennings, a pro surfer who founded the Walking on Water ministry and leads the co-ed Dream Surf Camps, says youth of all skill levels—from beginning to advanced—and between the ages of 11 and 18 participate in weeklong, overnight experiences that include surfing, worship and Bible studies.

“I have been involved in many different types of outreaches during my 16 years in full-time ministry, but I can honestly say that the surf camps have the most significant impact in the student’s lives,” Jennings says. “It is so great to see how God works as the students are in God’s creation, surfing, having Bible studies, and are away from cell phones, TV and Internet.”
