Motivational Speaker and Author Zig Ziglar Dies at Age 86

Prominent motivational speaker and prolific author Zig Ziglar died Wednesday after a short bout with pneumonia. He was 86.

News of his death was posted on his Facebook page.

Ziglar’s personal assistant, Jay Hellwig, told the Associated Press that Ziglar “accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior” at the age of 45 and described that day as the turning point of his life.

The Associated Press reported that Ziglar’s friend and pastor, Jack Graham of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, said Ziglar “truly was filled with faith.”

Ziglar’s many books include: God’s Way Is Still the Best Way (Thomas Nelson), Something Else to Smile About: More Encouragement and Inspiration for Life’s Ups and Downs (Thomas Nelson), Confessions of a Grieving Christian (B&H), Over the Top (Thomas Nelson), and Confessions of a Happy Christian (Pelican Publishing).

None of the programs at our church were bad in and of themselves. The volume of it just prevented us from being focused on building relationships with those who are far from God. So, we had to do less ministry to reach more people. It sounds funny, but people had to be trained in how to do life with nonbelievers or people spiritually disinterested.
