While increasingly accepted and encouraged in the business world, I wish it was happening more in church world. Instead, I find many pastors and church leaders threatened by younger generations, often resulting in keeping them from pivotal leadership roles and opportunities of influence.

Many Christian leaders appear to be suffering from a lack in their spiritual formation.

The false idea that prosperity brings contentment is nothing new. Paul warned Timothy and the church at Ephesus about false teachers—first-century equivalents to modern prosperity theology proponents—who were “depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain” (1 Timothy 6:5).

A little conflict will force us to find methodologies for dealing with problems so we will not be blind-sided when major trouble arrives.

I once had a pastor say, “Ron, you’re a giant killer!” He encouraged me to kill giants for the Kingdom of God. It changed the trajectory of my life. I possibly wouldn’t be serving the church as I am today without those words. They came at just the right time in my life.

In the sensitive moments soon after a tragedy, it is important we remember as churches we exist to live out the mission of Jesus to seek and save that which is lost.
