I can’t ignore the tasks that ministry requires, but when I am in task mode I must keep my spiritual “peripheral vision” active, looking for those “God moments” with the Sabrias of the world.

Do your job. If you are losing members to the new guy, keep telling yourself (and your leaders who may be panicking at the empty pews and low offerings), “This is not about us, but about the Lord Jesus. And if they’re doing a better job over there, then let’s pray for them and encourage them.”

Besides Sunday services, the center also provides a weekday program for young adults featuring recreational and leisure classes.

If God decided all the suffering of history is worth the price paid, who are we to say otherwise? He knows everything and took upon Himself the lion’s share of human suffering. Hasn’t He earned the right to be trusted?

Nothing we do is new or remembered, but amazingly enough, we have all been given some work to do today, a purpose and a task. Life is full of unhappy business, but did we enjoy a cup of coffee this morning or a sandwich for lunch? How lovely. We can find enjoyment today, even in this sin-cursed world under the sun.

The greatest challenge for church leaders is to tell the story of mission in a way that is beautiful and life-giving to a generation that sees the world through a lens of anxiousness and division.

Guests do not want to search for basic information. They want it quick and fast. Look at your website and social media pages as if you were a guest. Have selected ages within your church go to these sites and provide honest and open feedback.
