Outreach Resources of the Year: Church

Now in its 18th year, the 2021 Outreach Resources of the Year honors the past year’s best books that emphasize outreach-oriented ideas and ministries.

The church category was evaluated by A.J. Swoboda, assistant professor of theology, Bible and world Christianity at Bushnell University and the author of After Doubt.

Renovated: God, Dallas Willard and the Church that Transforms by Jim Wilder (NavPress)

Renovated is a concise, explosive, resourceful and (at times) disturbing examination of the intricate and intimate relationship between our mind, our affections and our love for Jesus. And as if that weren’t enough, this particular resource offers an extended conversation with the work and theology of Dallas Willard. The product is borderline brilliant. Weaving together themes of biblical theology, various findings from the world of neuroscience, with the theological forays from one who will likely go down as one of the most important voices in Christian history on Christian formation, Renovated serves up a dynamic resource of the year that will no doubt have an impact for years to come.

Church size alone is not an indication of health or unhealth.

Leading With Kindness

Kindness isn’t weakness, it’s the expression of strength from someone who has something to offer. Kindness is not automatic, it’s a gift that you must choose to give.

Evangelism and the Privatization of Faith

Make friends, in your own way, and avoid isolating yourself—be open to show and share the love of God.
