Weeklong Faith-Based Event Comes to Jersey Shore

Christian Family Week has been serving the spiritual needs of both the locals and vacationers in Seaside Heights, N.J., each summer for more than 15 years. BeachHead, a joint effort of churches and ministries in Ocean County, N.J.—happening Sunday, July 29, through Saturday, Aug. 4—is the largest organized faith-based week in the history of Seaside Heights and is organized by the Christian Family Week leaders. More than 15 local churches and ministries are participating to produce daily events that include a discount youth night at Breakwater Beach Waterpark; BMX show; classic car show; movie night on the beach, featuring TRON Legacy; a one-man volleyball contest; surfing camp; worship night and more.

BeachHead week will be headlined by the band Love and Death, featuring Brian “Head” Welch, formerly of the band KORN. Welch sold 30 million records and won three Grammy awards with KORN. In 2012, he created his new band, Love and Death. Their debut EP was released in February and their song “Chemicals” climbed to No. 1 on the BDS rock chart. Love and Death will be performing on the Hiering Avenue stage in Seaside Heights on Saturday, Aug. 4.

“I am thrilled by the united effort and energy offered by the many churches participating in this year’s event. The atmosphere and expectancy of the Christian Family Week team is at an all-time high,” said Vince Lotito, chairman of BeachHead.

“My life was radically changed years ago when I heard another heavy metal singer share his personal story of drug addiction and salvation through Jesus Christ. I believe that many people will share my experience when they hear the powerful testimony of Brian Welch’s encounter with God that saved him from drugs and depression.” states Shawn Hyland of Move the Earth, who organized Mte’s Jesus Shore in Seaside Heights in 2010, and is part of the ministerial team that secured Welch for this summer’s event.

How Can We Avoid ‘Believing’ the Bible While Denying What It Actually Says?

We need to learn, and teach other people, not just to read the Bible but also how to interpret it, so they don’t end up being Bible-believing heretics or Jesus-followers who follow a Jesus different than the real Jesus of the Bible and history.
