For the past few years, Redeemer Church in Utica, N.Y., has run a testimony sermon series to portray how the power of the cross affects real lives. The church has scheduled three “human interest” stories with great seeker appeal. Over the years, Redeemer has featured former mobster Michael Franzese; Annie Lobert, a former sex industry worker; and infamous New York serial killer David Berkowitz via video. This series boosts normally low, post-Easter attendance to record-breaking numbers, Lead Pastor Mike Servello says.
