“The thing that excites me the most at Cornerstone Chapel is seeing lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit,” says Senior Pastor Gary Hamrick. “I am continually amazed at how the simplicity of the gospel can be life-changing. We have witnessed people coming to Christ, marriages being healed, addicts being delivered and people growing deeper in their knowledge of Scripture and their relationship with Jesus.
“Our growth can be attributed to three main things: 1) God’s grace. ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain’ (Ps. 127:1). We want to be careful to give God the glory for what he is doing at Cornerstone and not think that we are clever enough or creative enough to take that credit.
“2) Teaching the Bible. We make the Bible central to all that we do. There is a strong emphasis in all of our services, youth gatherings and children’s ministries on teaching the Bible. We are finding that people are hungry for truth in a relative world.
“3) Worshipping the Lord. We take time in all of our services and gatherings to include Christ-centered worship. We emphasize ‘Christ-centered’ because there seems to be a modern trend of ‘me-centered’ worship that has put the focus on ourselves rather than on the Lord. We want Jesus to be exalted in all that we do.”
