2|42 Community Church: No. 10 Fastest-Growing Church, 2016

When it was time to build a church building, 2|42 Community Church built a community center instead. The city didn’t have a YMCA or other place to gather in the winter, so the Commons became a seven-day-a-week, free facility that meets a need in the community. People enjoy a school for the arts, café restaurant, three-story playscape for kids, indoor soccer field basketball courts and conference rooms. Birthday parties, sports teams, business meetings and dance recitals happen weekly at the Commons—oh yeah, and church on the weekends!

Says Senior Pastor David Dummitt, “2|42 has a healthy and externally focused culture. We’re not seeker sensitive; we are seeker obsessed on the weekends, and we understand that the most effective way to consistently reach unchurched folks is to disciple our people to be missionaries wherever they live, work and play.”

Evangelism is not just another leadership skill—it’s foundational to leading a local church.

Learn to Linger in Grief

Imagine a church where grief isn’t ignored, but it also isn’t hopeless. Where lament isn’t a sign of weak faith, but an act of worship.

When ‘More’ Doesn’t Cut It

We can’t have some churches saving lives and some churches ruining lives. More is not enough. We need more and better.
