How Church Leaders Can Lead Through Change and Transformation

It’s not about trying harder. It’s about training differently. It’s about starting by saying, this is what we’re supposed to be, and we’re not, because it’s really hard. We’re incomplete at best. So let’s talk about the ways in which we need to continue to confess our sins to one another, hold each other [accountable], talk about our weaknesses, talk about the way in which we want to be different. Let’s create as much authenticity and honesty as possible.

I really do believe that the Holy Spirit shows up when we confess our sins one to another. And in our humility, God makes us and transforms us. So we start not by programming, but start by confessing, and then together beginning to live into small bits of that. 

Leadership for me is really about people believing that your very best identity will continue to need to be transformed for the sake of what God wants to do. It is about transformation. That’s the key part. It is about being transformed.
