Samson the Movie: An Unwilling Hero, a Conduit of God’s Strength

The biblical epic of Samson is coming to big screens in the movie Samson produced by Pureflix, the makers of God’s Not Dead and The Case for Christ.

“It’s a story about a man that is called upon by God to do something, who isn’t sure that he’s the right one,” says Jackson Rathbone, who plays the Philistine commander Rallah. “Sometimes we are, in life, called upon by God to do something that perhaps is not in our own self-serving best interests. And the idea is to help others.”

The movie, shot on location in South Africa, follows Samson’s path from being endowed by God with supernatural strength and called to liberate Israel from the Philistines, through his temptation, blinding and downfall, to his redemptive fulfillment of God’s purpose for him at the temple of Dagon.

“Most people know that Samson had long hair, Delilah cut it off and that he lost his strength,” Director Bruce Macdonald says. “But there’s so much more. Samson was an unwilling hero, and his journey to regain his faith—the whole story—is relevant [today].”

Samson is in theaters now! For more information and to purchase tickets, go to SamsonMovie.Pureflix.com.
